Our final choice of Irish brewery for the event is big hitting and very well respected, welcome to The White Hag. Based in Ballymote, Sligo, The White Hag has been established since 2013 and produces some really excellent and exciting beers. Proof of this can be seen in this weeks choice of brew... The Serpent.
The Serpent is a limited edition beer created to celebrate St Patricks Day. It's not just the distinct tastes of gooseberry, lychee and peach that will draw people to this 'Spring Ale' though. Nor is it the awesome can art or clever name which bears homage to St Patrick himself. Instead, the big talking point will most likely be that the beer is completely GREEN in colour.
Hopefully, the same colour of green as the side that lift the Six Nations trophy on Saturday. Come on Ireland!!
This month, we’re swapping the vineyards for the distillery as Wine Not Wednesday takes a spirited detour into the fascinating (and slightly mischievous) world of gin! A drink steeped in over 300 years of history, scandal and surprising links to everything from the navy to neighbourhood cats. 🐈⚓
Guided by our resident drinks expert Maso (of Maso’s Wine Night fame), we’ll explore six unique gins that each represent a part of the gin timeline - from “mother’s ruin” to modern sustainability and innovation.
What You Can Expect:
🍸 Six gin-based drinks that shine a light on the most inventive spirit in the world - and the stories behind each one.
📚 A guided tasting with all the weird, wonderful and occasionally wild history that comes with it. Expect plenty of facts, a few surprises, and yes... answers to questions like:
- Why do some gin bottles have black cats on them?
- What’s gin got to do with the navy?
- And just why was it called "Mother’s Ruin"?
🥂 A fun, relaxed night out - perfect for gin lovers, curious minds or anyone just after something a little different!
Tickets cost just £30.00 per person but seats are very limited, so please book now to secure your spot and avoid disappointment.
